What is WordPress? WordPress is free, easy to install and use blogs and content management systems. You can download WordPress for: http://wordpress. org / download /. Why WordPress? WordPress is free, easy to install and easy to useYou can quickly create new static pages (About us, our services, contact us, etc.) You can easily maintain a business or personal blog and archive older articles WordPress to create search engine-friendly pagesYou can choose from hundreds of templates (also called themes or patterns) to installYou can choose from hundreds of plug-ins (such as calendars, contact forms, photo galleries, etc.) to add. Installing WordPress on your supplier Option 1: If you know how to use FTP and how to create a MySQL database, you can probably install it yourself quickly with installation instructions for WordPress. Option 2: If you choose a hosting company that includes Fantastico script library, or if you choose Netfirms. com, you can use their useful automated installation tools. Note: this method may not be as secure as option one. 1) The Webhost with Fantastico I will use the Host Papa. com as an example because I often recommend to customers, but there may be some other host with Fantastico. Login to your control panel at http://www. host papa. ca / cplogin. shtmlScroll down to the «Software» and click on «Fantastico De Luxe” in the left menu under «Blog» find «WordPress». Click on “WordPress” and then on «New installation». Choose your domain name from the dropdown menu. Type the directory where you want to install WordPress. Leave it blank if you want to install it in the root folder Type an admin and a passwordPut in your admin nickname, email address and your website name and a self-explanatory tagline. Click on “Install WordPress” and then click «Finish Installation”. You are ready to login to your admin account! 2) Netfirms Netfirms. com, is a different server, I often recommend, a little different: Login to your control panel at https: / / controlpanel. Netfirms. comClick the menu item «tools», in «Program” you will see «WordPress». Click on “Wodpress” On the next page, click on «Add New,” on the right side of the page. Type the directory where you want to install WordPress. Leave it blank if you want to install it in the root folder. Choose your domain name and “click Add to” Option 3: If you want you can have it installed by a freelancer for about $ 25. All freelancers need is access to your server and the ability to create a MySQL database. Create Content Once WordPress is installed on the server, you can log into your admin account and create content in two different ways: 1) Create static pages «About us», «Contact», «services», etc. From the main menu, click on «Enter», then «Page”, type a title in “Title” field Type and format the content in “Page” field Click on the button «Publish And voila, a new menu item is automatically created in your site menu, link to this new page. 2) Create a service (Article) From the main menu, click on «Enter», then «Post» Write a title in “Title” field Type and format the content in “Post” Field Below, you can write tags. Tags are keywords that describe the topic of your post. Select or add a category where you can post your article. This will help organize and archive your messages. Click on the button «Publish» A new section is created automatically in your categories and will link to this article. Most likely, and depending on your settings, this new article will also appear on your website. You can insert pictures, videos, audio and other files of both mail and web pages using the buttons next to “Add media”.
